This year’s SGO 2025 Annual Meeting on Women’s Cancer promises to be dynamic, informative, and inspiring. With a carefully curated program featuring masterclasses, cutting-edge research, influential keynote speakers, and unique networking opportunities, the event is designed to empower attendees to multiply their impact — in their research, in their practice, and in the lives of their patients.

From scientific advancements to engaging discussions and memorable social events, the  SGO 2025 [Annual Meeting will provide an unparalleled opportunity to connect, learn, and lead in the field of gynecologic oncology.

Planning a conference of this scale requires extensive teamwork, collaboration, and strategic decision-making. The program committee worked diligently to ensure that the meeting reflects the most pressing issues in gynecologic oncology. This year’s program chairs Victoria Bae-Jump, MD, PhD; Sean Dowdy, MD; Paola Gehrig, MD; and Alexander Olawaiye, MD, worked together to develop sessions that represent the vision of SGO President Amanda Nickles Fader, MD, as well as the key themes identified by the program committee.

“It really takes a team,” Dr. Gehrig said. “We had wonderful guidance and help from the SGO professional staff, and once Dr. Nickles Fader gave us her vision, the program committee just did an amazing job in setting up our key themes. From there, the abstracts came pouring in, and we had such wonderful science to choose from.”

The science was instrumental for developing some of the most exciting sessions and paved the way for creating new masterclasses, about which the chairs are especially excited.

Among the standout sessions is the ergonomics course, which will address a prevalent issue in the specialty by helping participants optimize their operating room environment and improve surgical performance and long-term overall health and well-being. The ever-popular coding course is also returning, offering crucial updates in the face of ongoing payment cuts.

Additionally, this year’s program introduces a redesigned tumor board, integrating cutting-edge insights from AI. Attendees can also look forward to a presentation on findings from the 2025 SGO State of the Society Survey , followed by a discussion on the future of gynecologic oncology.

Keynote speakers include New York Times bestselling author Liz Wiseman, who will discuss leadership and impact, and former NIH Director Monica Bergnatoli, who will explore the importance of preserving federal research funding in uncertain times.

“A highlight of the meeting is the SGO Social Event at MOPOP, where attendees are encouraged to dress as their favorite pop icon and enjoy a night of networking and entertainment in one of Seattle’s most iconic venues,” Dr. Bae-Jump said.

Multiplying Impact

This year’s meeting theme is “Multiply Your Impact,” and each part of the program has been developed with the purpose of building extraordinary careers, cancer programs, and community during extraordinary times.

“The speakers, abstracts, sessions, and the entire program are built around providing our attendees with tools, knowledge, and information to help them positively influence their teams and partners to reach their maximum potential,” Dr. Dowdy said.

Shaping the Future of Gynecologic Oncology

Beyond learning, the SGO Annual Meeting provides an essential platform for advancing research, collaboration, and innovation.

“One of the most special parts of the annual meeting — and what keeps us all coming back year after year — is the opportunity to listen to the science together, hear the moderators and discussants distill the information, hear our patient advocates talk about their experiences, and then network with our colleagues,” said Dr. Olawaiye.
